A unique
program designed to create an environment that provides an abundance
of play and ongoing development by active learning. Curiosity is
encouraged, while self-direction and persistence are practiced.
Social skills, sharing, positive self-esteem, and friendship are key
areas of focus. Children
are encouraged to discover, explore, and learn new skills through
learning centers, activity zones, and discovery areas. These
enriching experiences fill children with pride and the desire to
learn more.
Discovers Room Foundations:
-
To
develop social skills, we provide opportunities for sharing,
caring and helping others.
-
To
encourage children to think and reason, activities such as
walks, sand/water play, and exploring are planned.
-
To
encourage language development, we read books, talk about
pictures, and provide a friendly environment.
-
To
encourage creative expression, we do creative art activities
such as painting, drawing, and play dough.
-
To
teach math concepts, we do activities such as sorting, counting,
patterns and shapes.
-
To enforce self-help skills and
enhance cultural awareness, we provide a wide variety of
dress-up clothes and materials.
-
To
increase a child's understanding of measurement, enhance
hand/eye coordination, we provide building materials such as:
legos, unit blocks, and hollow blocks.
-
To
provide opportunities for children to gain a better
understanding of the world around them, we provide real tools for
building, cleaning, and cooking.
-
To
promote literary skills, we incorporate a variety of reading
materials and activities in our daily lesson plans.
-
To promote large muscle
